waterfront beauty & small town charm
Solomons Island offers a unique blend of waterfront beauty, small-town charm, and rich coastal history. Nestled along the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay, the area is known for its marinas, boating culture, waterfront restaurants, and relaxed pace of life centered around the water. Days are often spent out on the bay, walking the boardwalk, enjoying sunset views from The Pier, or exploring local landmarks like the Calvert Marine Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse. The area’s natural beauty also extends beyond the shoreline, from the sculpture trails at Annmarie Sculpture Garden to the wooded trails and dramatic cliffs along the coast.
Over the years, Solomons has become one of my favorite places to unwind and reconnect with family and friends. Having had a vacation home there for more than a decade, I’ve come to appreciate the simple rhythms of life on the water and the sense of calm that defines the area. My ideal day starts with a morning hike at Calvert Cliffs, followed by a late afternoon boat ride on the river as the sun begins to set. In cooler months, I love ending the evening with a glass of wine at Barrel 9, while warmer weather calls for waterfront dining at The Island Hideaway or Le Vela.
